With reference to Colonial Office letter No. 52740/28
of the 29th ultimo, I am directed by Secretary Sir Austen
Chamberlain to state that, in view of Sir M. Lampson's
expression of agreement contained in the enclosed telegram,
he concurs in the recommendation of the Governor of Hongkong
that the Chinese Telegraph Office in the Colony should be
closed.
2. Copy of a telegram to His Majesty's Representative at
Peking on this subject is enclosed herewith.
